What it is (or rather, might become)

With guidance by experts from Umeå Institute of Design (UID), the SAT and IDEO, I want to explore what it could mean for the SAT to have a truly networked building. I’d like to explore this topic by thinking and prototyping various future communication methods, data visualization services, and fictional scenarios.

I want to work at human, architectural, and urban scales. My focus will be directed towards SAT employees, goers, and neighbours, as well as the building itself and it’s and immediate surroundings.

In working on the SAT’s ‘soft’ infrastructure, my hope is to make the space more usable and liveable for people to work, relax and have fun in (and out).

I want my thesis project to be fun. I also want to contribute something to my hometown, Montréal. Specifically, I want to work on a project with and for the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT), which is in the process of inaugurating their newly renovated—and incredibly connected—building.

I want to work with people. I want to investigate new ways to interact with the built environment, and more specifically with that of the SAT’s.

Having just written a first draft of my project brief, I thought I’d take it further and write, as succinctly as I can, a short paragraph hopefully outlining clearly what my project is.

Ce que c’est (ou ce que ça pourrait devenir)

Je veux quoi mon projet de fin d’études soit amusant. Je veux également apporter ma contribution, aussi infime soit-elle, à Montréal, ma ville. Plus spécifiquement, je veux contribuer un projet avec et pour la Société des arts technologiques (SAT), qui est en plein processus d’inauguration de leur bâtisse incroyablement connectée et nouvellement rénovée.

Je veux travailler avec des gens. Je veux tenter de découvrir de nouvelles manières d’interagir avec l’environnement bâti, le cas échéant avec celui de la SAT.

Avec la direction et l’aide d’experts de l’Umeå Institute of Design (UID), la SAT et d’IDEO, j’aimerais prototyper de futures méthodes de communication, services d’information et/ou scénarios fictifs pour les SATiens (employés comme invités), ainsi que pour quiconque se trouvant dans les parages de sorte qu’ils puissent interagir entre eux, avec la SAT elle-même et ses alentours.
